Prevalence of Any Mental Illness

In 2019, there were an estimated 51.5 million adults aged 18 or older in the United States with any mental illness.. This number represented 20.6% of all U.S. adults.

The prevalence of any mental illness was lowest among Asian adults (14.4%).

There are approximately 173 million people in China suffer from at least one mental disorder (12% of Chinese population).  One in 8 Chinese suffers from a mental disorder!

A primary feature of mental illness is impaired insight, which means a person suffering from mental illness is often unaware of their own conditions.
